Tormek’s handling of your personal data
Your personal privacy is very important to us and we strive to protect your personal information responsibly. This policy describes the information that is collected about you, why it is collected and how the information is being handled. Your information is used solely for the stated purpose and will not be shared with anyone outside of Tormek, its parent company Lagercrantz Group or suppliers that are relevant to fulfil our agreement with you.
Tormek's policy complies with the EU Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which enters into force on May 25, 2018. The new regulation replaces PUL, the Personal Data Act.
Register account
When you register a machine on www.tormek.com, we collect your email address, first name, surname, country, machine model, place of purchase, what you mostly sharpen, how you first came in contact with Tormek and your main reason for purchasing Tormek (professional, hobby etc.). The information is collected in order to offer you the best service during the future use of your Tormek products.
Subscription to newsletter
If you choose to subscribe to our newsletter, we will collect your name and e-mail address for the newsletter. You will also be required to specify which language you prefer.
How we use cookies
A cookie is a small text file which asks permission to be placed on your device and once you agree, the file is added. There are session cookies and persistent cookies. Session cookies are stored on your device until you close the browser. Persistent cookies are set with expiration dates and are stored on your hard drive until the date expires or until you delete them.
We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being visited. This helps us analyse data about web page traffic and improve our website and tailor it to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us. Tormek also uses cookies to give you a better user experience, for example by remembering what language you have set for the website or by helping you remember your login name and password.
Cookies can be First-Party-Cookies or Third-Party-Cookies. First-Party-Cookies are cookies which are placed on the website by Tormek. Third-Party-Cookies are cookies which are placed on the website by another actor, for example by an actor who provides a cookie for website analysis.
Can I say no to cookies?
If you do not want to allow cookies to be stored on your device, you can usually completely or partially disable them in your browser’s settings. For some browser’s, you can choose to either block all cookies, only accept First-Party-Cookies or delete all cookies when you close your browser. You can also delete cookies stored in the browser settings previously.

Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a digital analytical tool that measures visits and behaviour on our website through the use of cookies. With the help of Google Analytics, we can analyse how visitors use our website and how we can improve our website’s content in order to optimize the user experience. Information collected on users will never be used to track single individuals who have visited tormek.com.
What is your information used for?
All the data we collect is used to provide, fulfil and improve Tormek's services. For example, we use your personal information for administration and the delivery of purchases, i.e. in order to fulfil the agreement with you. We may use your personal information if, for example, you contact us with questions, comments or complaints in order to give you the customer care to which you are entitled to receive in accordance with the agreement you have entered into with us.
How long do we store your information?
Information about you will be saved as long as it is needed to fulfil our agreement with you and the purposes for which the data was collected. We also save certain personal data for other reasons than to fulfil our agreement with you, such as to comply with the Book-keeping Act and the Annual Accounts Act. In such cases, the statutory requirements govern how long we need to save your data.
If you have registered a machine and thus created an account, your data will be saved as long as your account is active. If you wish, you can delete your account and information under "My Tormek" at any time.
If you register for our newsletter, your information will be retained for as long as you wish to continue receiving the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time through the clear links in each email. You can always sign up again if you want to re-enrol.
